Inauguration of the wood biomass cogeneration plant in Novillars on 15/02/2019

On 15/02/2019, we inaugurated with our partner AKUO Energy the Novillars biomass wood cogeneration plant on February 15, 2019 in the presence of Mrs. Emmanuelle Wargon, Secretary of State to the Minister of State, Minister of the Ecological and Solidarity Transition, as well as partners of the project.

This project, revived in 2013, involved public and private stakeholders in the service of the energy transition. With a capacity of 20 MWe and a thermal capacity of 63 MWth, the biomass plant will sell both electricity to EDF as well as thermal energy in the form of steam to Gemdoubs SAS, to cover all of its industrial needs.

This project improves the competitiveness and sustainability of the Gemdoubs paper mill. Indeed, the energy bill represents, after the raw material (recycled paper), the main item of expenditure of the paper mill. This circular economy project produces energy from a wood resource from a secondary forest and nearby (50 km on average).

In addition to the consolidated jobs for the stationery and the 20 jobs created by the plant, the project consolidates at least 50 jobs in the region's timber industry by adding value to wood that was without existing outlets.

GEMDOUBS IS CERTIFIED ISO 50001

Gemdoubs obtained in September 2017 a new certification: ISO 50001.

This certification means that Gemdoubs is taking steps to limit and optimize the use of energy and thus limit its impact on the environment.
